Growing up, Matt Giese always knew his life was heading toward joining the family business.
He remembers spending his summers helping at Giese Cos. in Dubuque, working under his father and learning the ins and outs of the operation.

U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, on Monday in Dubuque called for extending tax deductions for small businesses and reducing federal government spending to boost economic recovery.
Hinson toured two Dubuque businesses, including Giese Manufacturing, and spoke with business officials about the challenges facing small businesses during a time of high inflation and low workforce availability.
“You look at these rampant cost swings that are happening across the country — not only just for us at the grocery store but for people trying to run a business and lock in prices,” Hinson said.

A Dubuque, Iowa, manufacturer plans to invest over $5 million in a new powder coating facility and hire at least 10 new workers.
Giese Manufacturing will build a 30,000 square-foot facility on a vacant piece of land across from a facility currently utilized by the company for powder coating,
Company president Charlie Giese told the Dubuque Herald-Telepgraph that the new building would house a powder-coating paint line that currently resides in the Giese Manufacturing building where Premiere Powder Coating is housed. When the new facility is completed, Giese Manufacturing told the paper it will repurpose the space currently used for powder-coating operations and continue to utilize the old facility.

A Dubuque manufacturer with a rich local history plans to invest over $5 million in a new facility and hire at least 10 new workers.
Giese Manufacturing aims to construct a 30,000 square-foot facility on a vacant piece of land in Dubuque Industrial Center West, across Innovation Drive from a facility currently utilized by the company.
President Charlie Giese said this new structure would house a powder-coating paint line that currently resides in the Giese Manufacturing building at 7025 Chavenelle Road. When the new facility is completed, Giese Manufacturing will repurpose the space currently used for powder-coating operations and continue to utilize the old facility, he explained.
