About the client:

Instead of a sheet of paper, Gail Chavenelle works with a sheet of metal -- 20 gauge steel -- creating three-dimensional images from a flat sheet by folding and bending a shape she cuts with either a plasma torch or a pair of tin snips. For more than 25 years, she has been as inspired designing her miniatures as she has been by the 8-foot-tall artistic collaborations with Giese.

From the client:

As a songwriter, I want to have musical instruments near me at all times. I never know when a song idea will strike. So, when I designed my outdoor living room, I wanted to include a grand piano. Of course, pianos can’t survive permanently in the outdoors, so I asked Giese to create a piano-shaped box from aluminum. I can slide a keyboard into it and run the power cord to an electrical outlet. It’s the perfect outdoor piano. And, when not in use as a piano, it’s a beautiful work of sculptural art."
